I realize that not all fish food is created equal. I have always just gotten the food off the shelf at the big box store. Always flakes. I now want to make the lives of my fish better than I have in the past. Possibly changing the food they get is step in that direction. My crew is Mollies, danio's and a gourami. Now on to some questions.

What do I need to look for in a flake food?

What other types of food should I consider feeding?

Live food necessary? if so why

When feeding fresh veggies I have read that you should blanch. I have also heard that you can freeze the veggies. (no microwave at my house and I really dont want to turn on the stove if I dont have to.)

Freeze till frozen solid? or just 30 mins or so and pull out of freezer?

Put in the tank while cold or bring back to tank temp?

Frequency of feedings?

Anything else you want to add, feel free please. Just trying to understand things a bit better
