talking catfish

I have a talking catfish which has recently got a clearish white fungi on his left middle tenticle and both middle tenticles have there ends looking like either they have been bitten or the tips have come away he also has been spending more time out in the open near the to of the tank, gills are fine and he does return to the bottom for a some time, can anybody help before he dies as to what may be wrong and what I can do to cure it

By "tenticle" do you mean barbel? Barbel erosion in cats is usually down poor water quality.
