Tall low light plants

How tall is a "decent height"? The problem with trying to get tall plants in a lower light tank is that there will never be enough light for the bottoms to keep them looking good when tall. This rules out most stem plants which get leggy in tall low light tanks. It also takes longer for plants to grow tall under lower light.

You can look into taller anubias but this can get pricey. A better solution is to use driftwood mounted plants such as ferns and anubias. You can gain height using wood and even attach a branch/limb to the glass with suction cups. In essence you are making shorter plants taller by giving them a leg up on the wood.

Try going to your local Walmart and look for those aquarium plant bulbs in the pet department. Those are Apon bulbs. They are cheap and they can grow in low light levels. They also can grow pretty big, about 16-18". Doesn't matter with ones you get. IMO, I think they are great...
