Sooo my 15g planted has gone to complete hell. Some brownish algae (not sure what it is....kinda slime-like, comes off in clumps but doesn't seem to stick to things real strongly) has decided it doesn't want to go away, and it loves my dwarf hairgrass. Also, BBA has resurfaced on my driftwood. So yeah....not doing so great.

So I didn't finish the original message and now I can't edit it. Not sure what's going on with the forum, but yeah.

So on with the problems! lol

I just can't get rid of this algae. I've been pulling it out every couple of days, but it just comes right back.

And to top issues off my CO2 has gone on the fritz. Not sure why, using usual recipe, but not getting any bubbles. so yea...

Tank Conditions:
15 gallon
40W CFL
DIY CO2, dosing Excel since BBA popped back up
2x week dosing of KCl and Flourish

I unfortunately don't have K or P test kits. Nitrates are always between 10-15.

I'm about ready to just tear the tank down and try something else. Don't know what to do.

sounds like an overabundance of light and not enough plants to outcompete for the nutrients. maybe cut back a bit on the ferts?

i think i'm going to pull out the ground cover plants. maybe i'll try some mosses or something. i dunno. too much light is probably part of the issue. at one point i had more light demanding plants, and the glosso wants high light (although it isn't doing well).

suggestions on plants to put it?

also, could use suggestions on how to deal with the algae

Btw, plants in there now: glosso, dwarf hairgrass, limnophila sessiliflora (which grows like a weed lol), and anubia nana http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170481

? think theres a Link between algea problem and CO2 GOING DOWN? get the co2 working pronto get the co2 as high as you can without seeing your fish gasping for air at the surface. and then be paitent. keep removing as much as you can. maybe get a very fast growing plant species and lots of it.

I'm sure that it's exasperated the issue, but this algae was showing up even when the CO2 was up and working.

um....photo period is 9 hrs I think

I think i'm going to convert this tank into a low-light set-up. I'm trying to post a thread about it, but I cannot get the thread to post. Is anyone else having issues with creating new threads? I can post in already-made threads, but can't make any new ones

i agree with MG get some fast growing plants and see if that helps!!!!! i have 2 10gals full of hornwort....do you want it???!!!
