Tank and Stand Question

Hi there. I am new to this forum and was hoping to get some advice! I am in the process of setting up my 55 gallon tank. I have the tank sitting on the stand right now, and even after shimming the stand between the floor and the stand, there is still a ever so slight gap between the middle of my tank and stand where the trim meets. The gap is enough that I can slide a piece of paper under there, but no more. I know I could use a piece of styrofoam under there, but it looks so ugly. Do you think a piece of sheet cork would work instead to help close that gap? I'm not sure if it is thick enough, or if it will compress enough. Anyone tried that before??

TIA!!!!!

Welcome to the forum :)

I'm sure I saw this same question somewhere before...
A gap the size of a sheet of paper isn't too much to worry about. If you want, you could even place the paper in the gap.

Taking the liberty of quoting beviking from this thread:

two sheets of paper is all? No problem. Don't use something that will lose shape if it gets wet (like cardboard!). tre has good suggestions. You can also try the hardware store for some felt weather-stripping. You can get it in different widths and thicknesses. I used it for my diy stand and 90gal tank some years ago and it's still standing.

Aawh, quoted by kveeti...I'm so honored :o

It seems that sheet cork would work, but I've never used it and don't know. If I had some on hand, I would use it.
The idea is to put it under the entire perimeter of the tank, not just where the gap is.
