just have a little question to ask....I will be breaking my tank down to move and drill the bottom in the next week or so.I was wondering if I put my fish in the barrel with my live rock would that be ok.I will be running a powerhead and skimmer in the barrel.Do you think the fish will be alright? Thanks

if the barrel doesnt leak they should be fine. Maybe a little stressed but fine. Also dont let the rock crush any fish.

I have kept fish in rubbermaid tubs for months without problems.. just make sure the barrel is clean and good to use for that purpose, ie. don't use an old barrel that used to hold paint stripper in it or something. ;)

I was planning on a week to do everything,I really dont want to rush anything like I did when I first started this tank.I want to do it right this time. Will need some time for silicone to cure when I redo my sump.and some time for tank to settle when it is back up and running.I think the fish should be cool. How long do you think they could last in the barrel(plastic garbage can) if I did all my homework?

I had to keep my fish in a big rubbermaid garbage can for 3 weeks and it was fine, Just make sure the can is well prepped to temp and water tested before everyone goes in.. I used vinigar and scrubbed the can and rinsed thoroughly to ensure I wasnt leaving a crapload of dust and whatever other particles might have landed in the garbage can during the many arts and crafts going around my house. I had my corals in there aswell, I had a light over a garbage can... The 15 everything was in started leaking when I was cycling their new tank and had to make due. Funny thing is in that three weeks the garbage can looked like it was doing better than my 15, hahaha!
