How do you like to decorate your fish tank? We do it the natural way with rocks and tan-colored gravel ont he bottom and some driftwood and live plants. The live plants help filter the water and provide oxygen for the fish as well.

Well, as this is the Marine forum mate, dont have plants as such..Try to keep it as natural as possible..Always striving to re-create the reefs where our fish and inverts etc etc come from..

perhaps this was aimed at the GFW area..

I personally prefer the natural look, sometimes planted sometimes sand and driftwood, some look good with a mix of rock plants and wood. but natural is the way to go.

My main tanks has the "driftwood logjam" feel to it that hopefully reminds my plecos of home. My other tank is more sandy bank with plants for growing stuff out. I do hope to do one more, a micro embankment with low current, muddy bank, and leaf litter bottom for cory cats.

We're currently creating a cave/tunnel "taj mahal". It starts with an egg crate bottom, pretty slabs of rock glued to the egg crate, then a black pvc elbow covered in tumbled petrified rock all over and around it. Then there's an elevated section back behind the pvc for two clay pots with plants all surrounded by the tumbled stones and filled in with flourite for the plants.

This all sits on a pretty massive sized slate stack that has two large caves divided by a smaller petrified wood "stump" and surrounded by more stacked slate structures.

My husband is a home builder and frustrated architect - so it all has to look like something he could "claim" as his creation. Hate to have to admit it since I didn't create it, but it's going to be awesome. Very natural looking I believe. But since we're doing a "peaceful cichlid tank", pots for the plants scattered about is a must.
