tank level??

ok i have a 135 gallon glass tank. its 6 footlong. 18 inches deep and 25 inches high. it was really close to dead level when i set it up. after putting about 70 gallons of pre mixed salt water in it, i let it sit for a few hour to circulate. when i rechecked for level, i found that it was about a half an inch from end to end. i tried shimming it, and could only get a quater inch shim under it. now im only about 3/8 inch from end to end. how much of a problem is this? how close to dead level does it have to be. i dont really have anywhere to put my now mixed water. how much of a problem will i run into. im not going to put anymore water in it yet. thanks for any help.

I prefer tanks to be completely level--but they are typically okay if they aren't. I have 2 55's that were level initially, but have settled into the carpetting uneven. Think there's about 3/8 " difference, and they tanks haven't shown any signs of stress in the past year. Obviously level is better, and more important for a larger tank where the weights are so much greater. I'd make every effort to shim it a bit more.

A clean, new garbage can will hold water very well--I used them for storage several times, no problems.

It looks more like the floor beam that the one end is sitting on could not be in the best shape for holding that tank. You might want to look or think about how much weight that tank is and what’s under the feet of the stand that’s holding it all up.

its all taken care of now. i already checked my floor joist. they were fine. after i let it set for a while it pretty much leveled up on its own. i have real thick carpet in the living room, now the tank is within 1/8 inch from end to end and side to side. thanks.
