I have a tall 30 gallon with one angel fish, and I'm looking for a school of fish for the tank. I have taking aliking to the hexazon barbs thinking I might be able to fit seven of them. Would the two species of fish get along? If not, which would be a good schooling fish for my tank?

barbs are know fin nippers so i would use caution with them. i keep my angel in a 29 with 10 balck skirts and a pair of kribs without problems

Emporer tetras might work well, since they will be too big to be eaten by the angel fish and are non aggressive

I have had good luck with platys. They angels really enjoy hunting the babies. I'm not sure how the platys feel about that. They come in many different colors and a pretty active and fun to watch. They also don't bother the angels at all.

I have cherry barbs and lemon tetras with mine. I've become a big fan of cherry barbs, the red really pops.

I keep rummynose with mine in my 55g, and rasboras with one in my 29g. Corys, rams, bn plecos, kribs, the list goes on and on. I would stay away from fin nippers like barbs and such, or any really small fish that could fit in their mouths when older, like neons.

I have cherry barbs with my Angels, and they get along great. Never had any issues between the two (3 angels, 8 cherry barbs).
