Ok the biocube is up, running and cycling. Used established media in the built in sump, and established decor in the tank, as well as live plants from my other tanks. Will be housing blue dreams neocaridinas in it.

Thanks :)

Water is nice and tea color tonight. Gotta love new drift wood!

If the driftwood stops doing it for you, and you like it, you can also look at alder cones or Indian almond leaves. They will also lower the pH, so don't do too much at once.

Im inpartial to it. I do have a ton of indian almond leaves to use. I do need some more alder cones and "gumballs". Also have a massive bag of mulberry leaves I like to use in the tanks.

Mulberry leaves? Do they also lower the pH, do the humic acid thing and all that jazz? Or do they just tint the water? I *know* what mulberries are, I just don't know about their usage in this hobby. They may be easier to source for free for some people.

I actually use them for shrimp food. My neocaridinas LOVE them. Nice spot for biofilm to develop as well :)

That's something I would guess not a lot of people know. That's awesome. Now I wish I still had easy access to my old mulberry tree.
