Welome All Brand new here, looks like a great site.

I have a 29 Gallon freshwater tank, and a 10 Gallon tank

I have a Fluval 104 and an undergravel Filter Plate
and 10"air stone for the 29
and I have a 10/15 whisper for the 10 but will upgrade to a 25
whisper and an undergravel plate for it

I want to set up a pump to go tank to tank to have a 40 gallon system
what would be the best pump manifold setup to do this

I currently have 1 pleco, 3 Black Skirt Tetras, and 7 Zebrs Danios
in the 29. the 10 is out of service

I plan on having the Pleco, some Pictus Cats, some Balas, and possibly a pair of Anglfish in the 29, and use smaller fish like
Tetras and Killifish, and Danios etc. in the 10

I want to circulate between the tanks but keep the individual
tank filters

Pipe dream or not?

Way to go for a first post eh?

Before you choose a pump you need to fine tune your configuration so you know how many gph you will need-
Will the tanks be stacked or side by side?
Are the tanks drilled or will you use a hang on overflow?
How long a run between tanks, how much of that is vertical, and how many 45 and 90 degree bends will it contain?
How much water movement do you want?

I was thinking of having them side by side
most likely with U-Tube siphons
I am way new at this would a double live
recirculation system like this actually by me better stabilization ?

Side by side won't siphon- no gravity :D.
You'd need a pump.

Yes it will buy you more stability, but it will also limit you in terms of keeping different parameters for different fish as well as disease treatment and spread problems.
If you are really new to fishkeeping I suggest that you skip this unless you have a compelling reason to pursue it.

I am most definitly new at this. it started about 6 weeks ago with my sister bringing my 2 year old a Blue Beta and a vase.
I didnt like the Beta being cramped in a vase, so I got a 10 gallon starter kit.
I had algea bloom that would not end, and floated the Beta and a Pleco, 3 Danios hung in there.
I lucked into the 29 gallon and the Fluval 104, and have it cycling right now.
I think I have it overloaded for the cycle
and will set the 10 back up and put the Danios back in it for a while.
I was just thinking that after I got BOTH tanks fully cycled and loaded that I could join the water stream for mass stability
keeping in mind the PH, temp factors, etc..

if both tank cycle and stabilize closely water wise after loading and balancing
I will give it a try. 40 gallons should be more stable than 30 or 10:cool:

I would thik unless you are going to make a feature of it like those multi joined hexangonal things, or share a filtration system. all you are getting are the drawbacks becuase allthough you will have a therical 40g you wont have room in either tank for fish that need 40g if that makes sense and also desise or water probs in one tank will spread to the other.

Nice idea thou, Maybe if you drilled and used some glass pipe joining tubes it could look very unique.

(hmmmm..... even after what I have said I am still intreged, weekend project for a couple of old 10g's I think)

Side by side with the tops level and U-tubes will work with the intake in one tank and the return in the other if the flow rate does not exceed the U-tube capacity. Slower is better in a situation like this to prevent mishaps. I would use at least two tubes if possible. Bubbles can often build up in the tube or other debris can clog and break the siphon and if that happens-flood.
