Still rainingso i'm watching the Tanked! marathon on Animal Planet....does anyone have any idea where they hide all the.essential parts. the plumbing must be incredible, OR inexistent. Where's the refugiums? Filters? Skimmers? They don't have big enough stands to hide all that stuff! (particularly in the telephone booth and the gimball machine). Seriously, it looks like they pour, add fish, and leave.

Ive only seen 1 tank with a refugium, and live coral. It was the same tank.

Ever notice what flops most aquarium based shows are ?? Lol This one seems to have hit on a formula that works they have been picked up for another season . Even public TV stays away from them so they must be doing something right?? My favorite where aquariums featured in the plot was "Bruce Bigelow" they did wander a bit from practicle fish keeping though lol. Wasn't that a magnificent tank that he was baby sitting?? Would love to have seen how the shattering scene was filmed !! Wow that appeared to be expensive not to mention PETA on their backs lol

Lol good point! It was a magnificent tank, i think I remember a scene when hes got a giant clownfish in his mouth....lol I'll tell ya what cracks me up. Check out the tank in finding nemo. It's a whole buncha nice, expensive SW fish in a FW setup. That cracked me up!

In my experience when it is possible builders of custom tanks like the ones featured in Tanked will put in great lighting and filtration. However there is plenty of evidence that they will also cave to demands of customers and sacrifice function for form.

The tanks are cool, but a lot of them arent practical. The spade shaped one, the gumball one (tho it would have been awesome for jellies), and some others.
On last nights new episode they did an awesome shark tank for a famous comedian. I liked how he asked how long he could keep the sharks before they get too big and have to be donated to a public aquarium. The problem is most people dont ask that, the sharks get too big, and they dont know what to do with them.
