I am setting up a 20 gallon tank. I have 2 male platys and 1 male guppy left over from a slightly failed former set up.

What would you suggest for tankmakes for them?

Tank will most likely be sand substrate and definitely planted. I'll probably run 2 AC 20s on it for filtration.

you've got plenty of possibilities :)

You could add:

3-4 more platies (male or female, but male if fry is not wanted)
4-5 more guppies (same thing^)

You could also add other livebearers such as swordtails or mollies, or other community fish like tetras, rasboras, or barbs. I'd also get a bottomdweller. Go with cories or loaches. You may be also able to get a clown pleco (I'll wait for someone to verify that one).

I like the platys ok but I have had a bit of an aggression issue with one of them chasing the other. I think I need a larger group. How many would you suggest.

I do not want fry.

The guppy....same thing. I don't want fry. I don't want him to be miserable as a single fish, so if I add more, how many?

What sort of loaches could I have in a 20 gallon?

I have two otos in a 10 already. I think I would do better getting them out of there and putting them in a larger group in the 20.

Corys are a possibility. I have some hastatus in my 10 and I never see them. They are shy.

Agree with the part that is in red I would stick with the livebearers that you have....and maybe add a betta-if the tank is well planted. 7-9+ Cories would do GREAT-just make sure that you drop skinking bottom feeder pellets for them! Possibaly more if it is a 20long rather then a 20tall. Also a Clown pl*co would be great just make sure that you have drift wood--as they are a wood eating fish, a rubber liped would also be a good idea-as they acutally eat algea--just please remember to feed your plecos also..as they need substution of foods!

I've got hengli rasboras (and one espei) so I will skip harlies as they look very similar only smaller. A good suggestion though. I really enjoy the little guys!

Ah ya...free never hurts anything!LOL Well I can say that in my experience Peppered, albino, Panda and a few other Cories are Very active!

Also for a 20TI woud suggest 7-9 Cory Cats.
