Same experience here in the Atlanta, GA area. Most of the stores only have one 'fish person' and that person appears to be a part timer in some stores (example, only working 4 days a week for 4 hours a day). In addition, they often sell very small examples of large fish, like tinfoil barbs, common plecos and bala sharks (not that other pet stores avoid doing this too).
They really ought to get out of selling fish and just stick with supplies. My guess is that they sell the fish to help drive sales of the more profitible supplies.
