tattooed fish! disgusting

I saw some kissing gouramis with "I 'heart' you" on their sides and 1 had 'make up' on its face. I walked out, wrote the management a lengthy letter. Nothing.

Maybe the gaudy appeals to teens ? Who is this appealing to ? The people who gift disposable bunnies for easter ? who thinks a stupid message on a disposable fish is more creative than a traditional card ? Write petitions, letters, speak up and avoid those stores. Spread the word. Many are just plain ignorant, not necessarily uncaring.

the only dyed fish I have seen so far are BSs, only my Petzoo sells them, which is a shame because they are a good LFS. i'm going to try and talk to the management next time.

i work for a store and the main reason we stock the fishes is because people request it .. i personally dont like any altered fishes just like i like my women all natural .. but :/.. my owner says they sell well.. and the only fishes we sell that are dyded are the glass and skirts..sorry guys:[

(wholesalers also buy them because they are cheap and "colorfull" and the customers dont know that)

The only fish I've ever seen dyed is the Blood Parrots. I don't get it. Why would they do such a thing. I mean thats like going up to your best friend and putting chemicals in their body. It just disgusts me!

Anyone ever considered contacting PETA and see if they have any interest in the cause? I have heard many bad rumors about the group, as far as them being too radical. And you know how rumors are, they spread and grow thanks to the media. But I know for a fact they are dead serious when it comes to poor treatment of animals. I may take the step and contact them and see if they are aware or if they care about fish as much as they do other animals.

thanks for the comments. I will definitely drop a letter to the store, although, every employee and customer who was there heard my shout of Oh MY GOD, That is DISGUSTING!

no way, don't call PETA about anything. nutjobs. take care of it yourself by being an educated consumer and making your viewpoints known to the peole you do business with.
