tattooed fish! disgusting

I used to live in town called Fishkill. Well, "kill" is Dutch for creek. . . hence, Fish Creek. PETA actually petitioned to try and get us to change the name of the town because it was a cruel name that promoted harming fish. . . honestly, c'mon.

SIGH.... it seems every time I gain a ounce of respect fo PETA I lose it again....

dont call PETA!!! they are really a bunch of crazy people that do horrible things to people that dont agree with them. it wouldnt surprise me if they tried to burn down the LFS that you want them to get involved with. they'll say "the fish will be safe, they're in water," but i dotn think the fish like it when the glass breaks and the water evaporates or goes over 110 F.

they buy and release fish and birds from pet sotres, which is their twisted way of "freedom." those animals are completely dependant on humans, and most cannot survive without human interaction (fish can find food on their own, but all of the tropical fish WILL DIE in the waters around here... the water just isnt warm enough any time of the year for them). when you really think about it, they say they are saving the animals from cruelty, but really they are exposing them to a totaly different kind of cruelty- the outside world. most of those animals will be euthanised when they are captured.

most people have heard about how they would wait ouside for people waering fur coats to come outside so they could spray them, which is totally wrong. you dont go and vandalize someone else's property because you think that fur coats are wrong.

what you are thinking of is the ALF, or animal liberation front. PETA only does drastic (IMO) but peaceful sit-ins and protests. they do not buy and release companion animals. they do, however, fund ALF, spray folks wearing fur, and are a little too extreme and biased for my taste.

BTW, let's not derail this thread.

What I do is just tell any people I see looking into the tanks of dyed fish that the fish are dyed, they don't live as long and that the color fades with time. Half of the time it gets a conversation going about dyed fish. Then whadya know, another person is informed and leaves the store without a dyed fish. Another sale lost.

I'll try not to derail the thread, but all you've just spouted is 100% wrong. As mentioned above, ALF is who you're thinking of. So instead of slandering an organization, why don't you read something about it, mkay?

ALF and ELF until I die.

PETA released goldfish into a pond by me and killed all of the native fish in it. they do plenty of crazy stuff.

both of them get together to much

I won't argue further, since we'll derail the thread.

My due apologies to euglossa.

true... my apologies also, and it was mostly my fault for rambling on. bottom line, dont get any animal rights extremist groups involved, it will cause more good than bad. you should simply have a petiton against the dyed fish.
