So, based on the advice I received here, I added a six pack of zebra danios to my 29g. Wow! Crazy little fish, and a ton of fun to watch! It's even gotten my four previously lazy platys on the move. (Of course my daughter says if we moved six lunatics into our house, we'd move around more too.)
I'm really pleased- they may not be glamorous fish, but what a pretty and fun addition, especially for a beginner.
