I had a run in with a moderator in another site regarding temperature and ich (or some sort of disease). I have read a lot of remedies and most of what I remember is one of the three, in combination or all together:

Increasing temperature specially for Amazon fishes (30-32degrees?)
Adding Salt
Adding over the counter meds
Changing a percentage of water
Quarantine

I gave the advice to someone to quarantine, to change water levels (30%), to increase temp to 32 and to add over the counter meds. The sickness was unknown but description was brownish stuff growing on the base of the dorsal fin and the ventral area of an L200 pl*c. Would you say that was a fairly good piece of advice? Would that warrant a criticism? Thanks.

The only criticism taht I might have is that you might as well treat the whole tank rather than quarantine at this point. Unless of course there are also fish in the tank that wouldn't survive the treatment. I would do that in case the disease had already spread and only the one fish had started to show symptoms. Otherswise you might put in back into an infected tank. The treatment itself seems fine.

Some boards and some people are just touchy.
Over the years I've learned to pepper my posts with phrases like "what worked for me when I had that problem was..." or "many people find that doing ___ helps folks in your situation" or simply ending a post with "I'm sure there are several other valid solutions to your problem but I have found such and such to do a great job.".

Don't sweat it.
Some people just need to be right or have the last word.
Or maybe it was just a bad day and they took it out on you- it is hardly ever personal.

No problem. We are generally pretty nice at this board, as long as you aren't a troll that is. :D
