I would like advice on making a terrarium. Is it ok to use rocks from outside? Anyone here have a terrarium? Its for a 10 gallon tank. I was thinking half the tank would be land, 1/4 of the tank steps leading up from the water sort of thing, and the last 1/4 pure water.

Will be for housing a toad and two of those tiny brown frogs they sell at the pet store. I don't think they are african clawed, I think they are the other kind.

My 72 gallon bow is a terrarium. It houses fire-bellied toads.

I use rocks from outdoors with no ill effects

How often do you spray water on the toads or is there another way to keep them moist.

Also would you say 1 cricket a day is plenty for a toad?

Can you feed them anything else like earthworms?

most toads dont need to be sprayed. Mine just take a dip in the water whenever they want, and its very humid in the tank.

1 cricket a day is alot. I feed mine one cricket every 3 days. Some will eat earthworms, but i havent had any success with my toads eating them.

Is your hood modified to keep it humid?

What do you do to clean the land area, since its not like water where you just suck the bad stuff out?

Do you use special lighting or a heat source of some sort?

no, just a normal hood i built, nothing special.

I dont clean the land part of the tank, it has too many plants growing to do anything. I do a 80% water change once a week.

the lighting is just 4x36 watt CFs. No heat lamps or anything.
