that craigslist ad?

brand new tank never used, i told him id give him $20, and if it is in perfect condition $25, ill still need to find out the make/model of the filter/light/lid/heater.

does/should "never used" affect the offered price much?

I

If its a twenty long, And has everything regardless of make/model, I would offer 35, and see what he says, I wouldn't go more than 50, but I would be prepared for him to ask for 50, because its brand new. I would inspect it though, because brand new, means hardly used to some, and never used to others.

man oh man....

another guy has 2 20gallon, and a 10 gallon he will give me for $30 ..... wow, this ad works.

Too funny, being a cynic myself that ad is just perfect!

DS, have you picked up any of these tanks yet? You are not going to have to paint after all.......just line the tanks up :grinyes:

im not gonna have to money to get any of them until next wed. But im trying to gather more info on the ones available to me.
Im not rich, and as much as I'd love to grab them all, I couldnt afford it, nor do I have room lol.

But Ive had about 4 replies in less than 24 hours, actually, less than 12 hours, and it totals about 4 20g, 6 15g, and a 30g, with some various equipment to boot.

the one guy has a 20g, a 30g, and 5-6 15g tanks, and he wants $100 for all of them.

this ad is bloody perfect lol.

I put up an add...but I'm kinda limited in what I can take.
Since it would either replace a tank setup here or be used as a betta fry tank at my parents house to raise bettas...Either way I got my replies.

Mostly was trying to get 20 gals since I have a stand that holds two and both I have no longer hold water. My parents broke one ( which I hauled from FL moving thanks a lot parents) and the other sprung a leak.

So I used the same add, and got flagged?..I placed it in the wanted section?..WTF?

Maybe someone else is already using an add similar in your area and they saw you as a threat to get free/cheap tanks before they did :grinyes:

Some people are retards and do stupid crap like that. (Referring to flagging your ad.)

You should never pay more than $1 per gallon for a used tank unless you know for sure the accessories you are getting with it are worth way more than the difference.

In example,

I paid $80 for a drilled 55 with overflow, stand, and canopy. The only reason I gave them more than $55 for it was that it had a trickle filter, AC 500/100, Little Giant 3MDSC pump (worth at least $100), and a bunch of other little stuff.

Trust me. You don't have to offer more than $1 per gallon to get great deals. Most people will take much less. Bid low, let them counter, you'll most likely get it for less than you expected to pay for it.
