I got my refund the other day, so today I went to go pick up my 180g. Here are some pics.

1) Just got it in my room, that's a 10g in the background for size comparison.

2)This thing is wide. 23"W, 71"L, 23"H from the inside, so it's actually around 162g, but oh well.

3)Here it is with the light on (single 48" 40w aquarilux bulb) and my large piece of driftwood.

I'll start setting it up tonight, and I'll post pictures when I get the gravel and the wood in there. I'm going to seed it with all the aged media and small amount of cultured gravel that I can, because I'm forced to add my oscars and catfish right away :o . I hope they come out alright. Wish me luck! :)

Oh WOW!!! I can't wait to get a tank that big some day!! Do they even make a light strip that long?

Not sure about the bulb (I think home depot sells shop lights that large, but the color probably sucks), but the fixture stretches from end to end, but it only uses 1 48". But it's got the best wavelength to enhance the colors of the fish. A 71" tube would be cool.

It's the same bulb used in LFS's to show off the colors of their fish.

What an awesome tank! my 55 gal pales in comparison! Cant wait to see it set up! Question about your photo attachments, what size jpeg's are they? I've got a photo I'd like to post on another thread but it says the limit is like 67kb? How did you attach your photos?

Thanks!

I use photobucket to host the pics (sign-up is free) and I upload my resized images there. I always take the picture at a large size, then resize them in "picture it 9.0" to 640x480. If you have further questions, just pm me ;) .

I'll have a pic up hopefully tonight with the gravel, wood, and regretfully my fish, in the tank.

BTW, thanks for the compliment! :dance

You'll have to excuse me. I have to go clean the drool out of my keyboard. Very, very nice tank. Sadly, I lack the space and fiduciary resources to obtain one :sad . Perhaps one day.

Thanks for the photo help! I've got an older version of "picture it", but it still had the option of downsizing photos, it seems to have worked! See my little snowball, he's only about 2" big!

Looking forward to seeing your tank up and running. Are you going to use an undergravel filter system?

Nope, I don't use those, I honestly don't see the benefit from having them.

Right now it has 1 AC500, and I'll purchase another one and maybe a fluval 404, or an eheim 2128 in 2 weeks (my wallet just took a $600 hit :p ). Plus I need to get another 300w heater.

I finished setting the tank up last night/this morning (around 1:00 a.m.). I had to put my fish in there because I couldn't find them a home in time, and I'm selling the 80g they used to live in, but I seeded the tank with two used filter pads, and some cycled gravel. Hopefully the cycle isn't too harsh on them.

It's nothing special right now, just the brown gravel, large piece of driftwood, and two glow in the dark plants just so it doesn't look too bare.

Eventually, when I get rid of the oscars and the catfish, the tank will house my 4 balas, 7 clown loaches, 5 angels, my small discus, and my 2 small senegalus bichirs (I've kept ornate bichirs in a community before without any problems, so I'm hoping lightning strikes twice; I'll be prepared if it doesn't ;) ).

More updates, and pics will be up tonight.
