The Classics Thread- Let's talk classics

-Flintstones,

- Merry Melodies

always have been a fan of both

Abbot and Costello

Bud Abbot and Lou Costello were comedy geniuses! Who's on first makes me laugh every time I hear it. It never gets old. It's actually very interesting how they met. Lou Costello was doing an act at a theater and needed a second man. Bud Abbot was an employee of the theater working the ticket booth. Costello chose Abbot to be his second in the act that night . They did so well together that night that Costello hired Abbot and a duo was born. They were very wealthy during their careers, but sadly Bud Abbot died broke and almost pennyless.

Very nice. Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash (My all time favorite singer), James Dean, and you got me on the last one.

Heh, I love the old classics of radio.

Fibber Magee and Molly

The Shadow

Inner Sanctum

The adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Movies

Charlie Chaplain

Buster Keaton

Harold Loyd in Safety Last!

Betty Boop

Felix the Cat

And for music, remember the Ink Spots?

Fibber Magee and Molly

I take a mental stroll down 72 Wistel Vista almost daily.

The Shadow

Personally. that's one of the few I can't stand. That laugh really irritates me.

Inner Sanctum

Great show. It almost goes hand in hand of the Whistler. Both great shows.

The adventures of Sherlock Holmes

I have always been a big fan of Holmes. Although I find the old time radio version very difficult to understand. The accents they use are very thick. I much prefer the modern radio version.

You about got me on the rest. I vaguely remember felix the cat. i only remeber Betty Boop because she is still somewhat of an icon even today. Have no memories of watching the cartoon.

And for music, remember the Ink Spots?

Never heard of them.

Eh, the laugh on the shadow drove everyone up the wall... I'm suprised you had trouble with the old Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce Sherlock episodes. I thought they were pretty clear.. Might you have gotten a bad recording?

Go look up the ink spots man! Pork chops and gravy, the great pretender, smoke gets in your eyes.. A lot of great songs from a great era.

Might you have gotten a bad recording?

No, I listen to them on XM. They are clear. Maybe it's just me.
I'll look that music up later this weekend and check it out.

Gotta Love it

I don't know what that first one was all about, but I like the Ink Spots.

The first one is a very well known Monty Python sketch.
