After weeks and weeks of research, and the approval from my wife lol, I got my list let me know if any changes or additions.

55 gallon tank
80 watts standard flourescent bulbs
Instant Ocean 200gal
Aragamax sand 60lbs
aragonite Live Sand 20lbs
Marshalls UNCURED LR 45lbs-uncured to cycle the tank with.
AquaC Remora skimmer + skimmer box
ebo jagger 200 watt heater
marine lab test kit

So how does it look? I realize I'm missing a hydrometer, any specific brand I should look for?

So far, sounds pretty good. Are you going for a DSB? If you are, 80 lb of sand won't be enough. What are you using for water aeration? As far as hydrometers go, they're all pretty much the same, unless you are going for a digital one. I use Corallife Deep Six, it's cheap (arround 9 bucks), and it has a unique design allowing you to measure the SG without having your hand in the saltwater.

I have a couple power heads at home that I was planning to use, but I'm not sure of their flow rates. What should I use in this situation. To answer your question I was going for a DSB how much more sand should I go with?
