Besides which, flushing live fish is in violation of a number of environmental regulations. You are unlikely to be caught, but you could end up costing us all money.

So it is not just philosophy, it is also law.
 
another rather strange problem i came across, about 3 weeks ago i HAD a beautiful blue female platy, about a month before, she gave birth to loads of fry, about 7 lived to mature... they all turned out to be males and chased her round the tank all the time till she died of tiredness... funny old world
 
Why not feed your adult platies to another fish, keep the fry, allow them a to grow up, and eliminate altogether the problem of platy reproduction for at least a few months?

Get an upside down cat or Pictus, No more little fishies! I have guppies in my tank just to help suppement my catfishes diets....I see a bunch of babies and by the next two days they are gone....The cats are fat and happy!
