The ramshorn snail is often seen as an aquarium pest that people want to avoid. However, they only pose a problem in an aquarium that is unbalanced. When the aquarist adds too much food to the tank, the ramshorn snails take advantage of the abundance and breed at an alarming rate. Population explosions like this cannot be blamed on the snail, but on the owner.

The pink ramshorn snail, in particular is very attractive and graceful. I use them as a clean up crew to consume uneaten food in all of my tanks. They are also great in fry tanks for the same purpose. Their dropping also produce a small amount of infusoria which the fry will eat.

Watch this high definition video and gain a new respect and appreciation for this graceful aquarium "menace".

Oh yeah ! I love ramshorns! So pretty & wonderful loach snacks to us loachy lovers...what's not to love? Not as prolific as pond snails but just enough to be awesome tank buddies & as you said, infusoria producers! Perfect tankmates in many situations...I like the blue too!

Friend! I like snails for all the reasons you listed but also just cause I think they are cool. :) Ramshorns are my favorite of the "pest" snails for sure!

Very cool video! I've never kept ramshorn snails. I do have lots of Malaysian trumpet snails though..

Ramshorn are nice, so friend.

I have just started a puffer tank and I am looking for some snails to start breeding get them for food. Anyone have a link for some that are pretty cheap. I found them on ebay and my local store charges for them. So I was just curious.

Ramshorn snails are pretty cheap and you only need 2 or 3 to start a breeding population.
They breed like crazy in warm water with lots of food. I don't remember where I bought mine. MTS snails are also a good choice. I hope this helps.
