I have a fluval 104 external filter which I was way overdue cleaning. I have been snowed under with work recently and just havent been able to make the time for much tank maintainence.

Anyway, I took it through to the kitchen and started dissasembling it. I took a quick look inside but the water was too murky to see to the bottom. I tipped it upside down and began pouring the water out. I looked out of the window for a split second and when I looked back I saw 2 juvenile bronze cories dissapearing down the drain! I tried my best to stop them but they were gone.

I have come to the conclusion that they must have got sucked into the filter when they were still very small, and over the last 4 or 5 weeks have been living and growing up inside the canister!

I will now be checking very carefully the water in my filter before I throw it away.

You could always try disconnecting the p trap under the sink. They may have been lucky enough to stay in there and not all the way down the drain. I doubt they`d live in it for long though.

They wouldnt last a second because I had the hot tap on at the same time. Our hot water is very hot.
