There's something in strange my tank

I had that happen too. For 2 years I had a 25 gallon eclipse with those white specks. No matter what I did they would not go away. several times I cleanned out the whole tank and still they were there. I even tried buying water from LFS. Any and all fish I would put in there would get sick and I would have to transfer to one of the other tanks where they usually would get better. The only fish to ever survive was a pleco.

After 2 yrs I gave up and sold the tank for 40.00 (replaced it with a 55g).

I think my 125 gallon has these right now, i was thinking they may have come in on the large amount of hornwart we bought from the LFS, is that possible?

I picked up some hornwart and anacharis from the LFS last month. It was snail-infested, so I quarantined the plants in a fishbowl for a couple weeks until I could get some potassium permanganate to treat them.

Just today I removed the plants from the QT fishbowl. You should see the little ecosystem in there! Tons of snails, but I have also seen daphnia and cyclops (copepods), a white worm thing, and many other moving specks too small to ID without a microscope.

I'm going to keep it around a while just to see what happens...

Water Fleas = Daphnia

Swimming specks or dots in a tank are usually copepods, daphnia, or ostracods. They’re all collectively part of the aquatic zooplankton. And how the ‘specks’ move through the water can give you a clue to their identity. Daphnia and copepods move in jerky motions except that daphnia generally swim in an up and down motion while copepods move in all directions. Ostracods swim in a zippy out of control manner throughout the water column.

Everybody feel better now? :)

Tom

You seem to know alot about these little guys...could they be responsible for killing off all of my gouramis and snails?
