they have small one right

Would you rather see a big school of smallish fish and a few "centerpiece" fish or a random grab bag of fish? Trying to replicate something that you might find in nature?

Also (I didnt ask this earlier) but what else is in the tank, as far as decor?

Jay, what in the world do you have against finishing your rainbow school? No matter how many times someone tells you to, you don't do it. Do them a favor and take them back to wherever you got them.

my australian rainbows can get like 4 inches and 5 rainbows is too mush especially when they grow up

55 gallon tank

2 opaline gourami
3 australian rainbowfish
3 zebra danios
5 dwarf sunset platy
1 peppared cory
3 blackskirt tetra

So you're going to get rid of your gouramis and get a few angels? Be careful you dont get a breeding pair because they will dominate the tank when they spawn.
So then you should have this:
2 or 3 male angels
6 danios
5 rainbows
3 cories
6 tetras
5 platys

I dont think thats overstocked for a 55 at all. Assuming you have a good filter and do weekly water changes....

Then you need to seriously consider taking the three you have back...

Maybe it's time to consider that you're in over your head. Either take everything back and start fresh or really start listening to people that know what they're talking about.

well, maybe fish nerds won't rule the world, but you did ask us for our help.

The thread was edited and the posts that were non fish related, and off topic were removed.

Try to stay on topic :)

Happy fishkeeping!

My question is do you have plants in your tank?
I would add with what you got and slowly build it up, buy 3 fish at a time so it doesnt shock your tank. I wouldnt add angels unless you really want a pair. Now as angels go, you are not going to tell the difference in them and neither are the store shop keepers. You find that out when they are adults in your tank.
Now don't get everyone wrong here, a 55 is a nice tank and you can have a bunch of fish, just not large ones. But also, remember more fish you add or larger, the more water changes you will need to do.
So later tonight, sit back and think on what you really want here. Go to the shop and look around. There is no need to rush and take your time. Don't let any one bully you into fish you do not want. But atleast take some of our recommendations. I think if you took back your Gouramies and Rainbows, get a pair of small angels.
I know you wanted a fish to eat your smaller ones, well these guys will do it. I had a school of 25 Zebras in a 55 with 4 angels, i did water changes 2 times a week. But my Danios kept on disappearing. The Angels ate them. They would dart out of the Giant Sword plants I had in that tank and grab a Zebra.

ok, I'm glad you've decided against the angels. But you're also saying that you want to get rid of your gourami's. I'm having a hard time following your stories and have to wonder why in the world are you back and forth at the petshop turning fish over and buying new fish. There ain't a fish store in the world I know that would be so willing to give and take as often as I'm noticing. And what happened to you looking for fish for $.99 - $1.99?

DeRo316, he does water changes twice a month, or so it's said in another thread somewhere around here.
