Things LFS employees told you that you knew weren't true

had an employee tell he how ID Sharks reach 6''
another employee told me for a Lima Shovelnose and Longnose Gar i need a "Really big tank, like a 20 long!"
the worst part is, she knew he truth when me and (someone from MFK) corrected her.
same store had a plastic aquarium gift shop Moray Eel in the feeder tank

I went into a fish shop and asked for a bolivian ram. They had a tank full of them. I said I will be right back and I walked over to get some chemicals. When I walked back over he handed me a bag with a firemouth in it. When I asked him why he gave me the wrong fish he told me that the tanks were miss labeled and that this was in fact a bolivian ram. We dont go to that petstore anymore.

I've seen something similar in a similar store :( Except the manager was taking back some kind of livebearer from a customer's tank. He dumped all the fish out of the guy's green water into a big net and promptly dumped them without acclimation into their sales tanks! There are sooooooo many things wrong with that. And no, I don't normally buy from that store; I was just killing some time before meeting friends for dinner.

i had about 10-15 platy fry to get rid of so i took them to the LFS...the week before the owner wast there so i let the kid working there have them..the next week i tried again with more fry and asked if the owner wanted to either sell them or have them so he took them to one of the sales tanks (marked $2.50) and just dumped them in.

before i left i got a bigger net and a media bag for one of my tanks, the total came to something to the tune of $3.50 and he didnt even give me a discount. it was like he had just forgotton about the fish i just gave him and he was going to sell.:mad2::swear: :swear: :swear:
i didnt expect much but i just gave him 25 bucks and he cant take 1.00 off my total?????

i havent gone there in the past 3 weeks and i dont think i will be going back...

(rant over)

A few years back I was in a store, and one worker was trying to tell me and my son that their RTC's are 'miniatures', and only grow to 12in max. Then another worker comes over into the conversation and tells us he's wrong they are the 'real' ones, and they grow to over 6ft long!

I politely exited the store.

recently I was looking for a female dwarf gourami- I asked the gal over at p******t if they could order me one and she told me "they only breed males now"

I thought that was sort of interesting since it takes a male AND a female to breed....

Okay, another one but this one just happened to my son yesterday evening. He went to a P**** store and was talking to a young guy working. The guy told my son that he doesn't like most tropical fish and he will never have cichlids. My son asked him what does he have, and he said, 'I have a 55gal salt tank, and I have 2 oscars in my 65 gal!' Alrightythen...

She was saying that they only breed for males, and they don't get females in anymore.

I wish I'd slap them with photos of adult yoyo loaches with reticulated and typical yoyo patterns (although the latter changes eventually).:headshake2:

Update!

Last night I finally took aside one of my favorite employees and 'laid down the law,' so to speak. I told him I am genuinely interested in buying this fish, who would thrive with my other adult B. almorhae, if only they would reconsider selling it as the less-pricey loach that it is, as opposed to a large Angelicus. He gladly agreed to talk to the owner, and tonight it should be marked as 'sold,' hopefully with a reasonable pricetag.
