Thinking Of Starting a Marine Tank

He said it would come with:

CO2 injector
2 filters for 550 gph
rocks and gravel
some heaters
4 foot lamp

Hello and welcom to AC central and Salt water fish! :D You won't need the CO2 injector. Filters are the bare minimum for the amount you'd want to have with a tank of that size. " If they are Rio's don't take them try for anything not oil filled with a magnetic drive for the impeller". I wouldn't use any of the gravel out of the fresh water set up that your getting to much detritus and risk involved. Read the sticky about deep sand beds you and your fish will really apreciate it in the long run and sand is cheap.
Rocks should be ok if they are inert or safe for salt water . Heaters, just make sure that they are working ok. As to the lamp what sort is it ? How many wats is it metal halide etc.. All of this is going to depend on what sort of tank you want a reef, fish only a community tank etc. Also you might want to consider adding live rock all of your critters will do much better.

Wait a minute, Dont get rid of that CO2 system yet. It may come in handy if you want to think about doing a reef in the future. Rocks and gravel wont work for marine as mentioned. The light will be OK for now but you will probably want to upgrade that in time depending on what it is and what you want to do. What kind of filters?

Last, what kind of a price tag?

It shouldn't be more than $150.00 and probably be less. So sand is the way to go I see. The light I think is just a standard flourescant. I will pick a live rock when the tank is ready and not before. They need to stay in water right? It will probably a fish only at first until I get used to saltwater. What would be a good thing to clean the tank with when i get it? I know I can't use soap, so what is a good thing to use instead?

It may not be proper, but I cleaned mine with a razor blade. Scraped the gunk off that wouldn't come off with water and a cloth! If you try it, keep the razor far away from the sealant (sp?)!

I've never used anything but water to clean my tanks, but I see people on this forum use bleach and other stuff I've never tried.

I have picked up the 90 gallon tank.
It came with:

1 aquaclear 500
2 heaters (glass and non-submersible)

Is this filter big enough for this size of tank?
Should I get different heaters?
What else do I need to get to start a fish-only tank?
Oh yeah he also gave me a bucket of live rock. He told me it is possible to bring it back to life is this so?
I should get sand for a substrate?

All feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thank You.
