Ok, so I think I might get some guppies for some color when my 55g is done cycling. If I wanted to have maybe 6 or so, can they all be male? I've been reading opposing views on the web. Second, if I cant do all males and do 1/2 ratio, what's a good community fish to keep the fry in check?

As always, thanks for the input.:)

If not all males then try and go for a 3:1 female to male ratio (too many males = beacoup de stress for the ladies). Also, I've never had any trouble with keeping fry in check - guppies are cannibals :P. However, if you're thinking of getting some more fish, I would advise getting some peaceful, slower moving fish (my mind's shot at the moment >.<;;).

I have 4 males and growing. I've never seen mine act territorial/aggressive.

An all male group might harass each other with displaying and chasing, but shouldn't do any real damage. Just be sure you have some hiding spots for them to retreat to if one gets bullied.

As long as there's nothing in the tank that looks too much like a female guppy, it should be fine. when my matching females died, I had a lone black neon and a female sunset platy that saw no end of harassment from my halfblack snakeskin guppies. ^__^;;

and dont always count on cannibalism for fry control.. i went from 10 guppies to well over 100 in less than 6 months!
