thread fins

i posted this question few days ago.. no replys, ima post it again.. does anyone know about thread fins? mating and breeding? my husband wants to breed them and would like to know about degree of difficulty and the such.

do you know what family they are in? The only Threadfin I can think of is a Butterfly, but that is saltwater... and breeding them you don't want to know... ever tried keeping Oscars with goldfish without the golds being a snack... yea not goin to happen.

I've bred a lot of different species (200+) but not this one although I tried. It is very delicate and not readily available. Do a seach for Iriatherina werneri.

They are rather difficult to keep, let alone breed.

As for breeding information, search Google or Yahoo for

Read anything listed from the Rainbowfish Mailing List. Those are the professionals.

thanks very much.. oh and, ima be a mama again, this morning.. i noticed that both my lab and my german red were carrying!! i'm going to have to buy a new tank just for all my fry!!! these are my 3rd and 4th brood within 2.5 months. the baby sunshine/electric ahlis are sooooooo pretty, they are already displaying pink and turchoise coloring. or however you spell it. I didnt mean to cross breed these fish, but im not sorry that they did. i really hope that some of them keep the colors.
