Tiger barb has pimple on his nose...

In my tiger barb tank I have recently noticed that one has a white cyst on the nose. It looked like a white head on the verge of popping. The tank is fine and purposely understocked...6 barbs in 29 gallon tank. All water parameters are great and the fish is behaving normally. The cyst has popped today and the fish is still otherwise in good health. I know that it is not ick...I have had run-ins with that nasty parasite. Has anyone heard of anything like this or experienced it with their own fish? Again, it was a largish white bump on the tip of the nose that appeared rather suddenly and stayed for less than a day.

Not to scare you, with your fish, but my poor guy had to be euthanized. He refused to eat for almost two weeks, and was growing pale and weak, but the only physical symptom (besides being pale) was a weird cyst on his nose that eventually popped and even started to heal. I never did figure out the problem, and none of my other barbs were affected. The thread has pics. Good luck! I hope your fish doesn't have whatever mine did.
