Tiger Barb Problem =(

One of my tiger barbs is not eating, swimming well, just hanging up by the surface. I checked my water conditions (pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate) and everything is ok there (o.25 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 5 nitrate) and my pH is holding at 7.6. I am going to do a water change today for that small amount of ammonia...which I was expecting to spike a little since it's a new tank. My water temp is remaining a constant 78 as well. My other tigers and my gold barbs are happy and very active (expecially at feeding time lol), and I see no visible signes of fungus on that one tiger. I'm wondering if maybe he's just particulary sensitive to the small amount of ammonia present?

I would seperate him if I could, but I just have the one tank.

Does he swim ok, or does he seem to struggle while swimming as if he has lost his balance?

are there any scales protruding, does he have a distended belly?

any more info would be helpful :)

Thanks for the reply! Happy to provide any more info. He seems to swim just fine, when he does. Usually when chased by another tiger is what gets him moving, and when he does no struggle there. His belly looks fine, not distended, and his scales look beautiful, none protruding or faded in color any or showing signs of disease (as far as I can tell).

I hope that helps some. This has me completely confused since I can find nothing outward about him to explain his behavior except he doesn't want to swim (but swims ok when he does), doesn't eat (or at least I haven't observed him eating during feeding time, in fact he hangs up at the top and let's the food go right on by him). His other tank mates are doing very well and are quite active.

I just did a small water change to keep on top of the small amount of ammonia.

very very new, as in the fish came a couple days ago. it's already has my immediate attention and did a partial water change today and will check levels later on tonight.
