Tiger Barb Questions

Not to thread hijack here, but would tigers work ok with some Rainbow Cichlids and either some Bolivian Rams or some type of Apisto's? This would be in a 65g with a 36x18 footprint and a fluval 405 filter. Caves and tunnels and potted plants would be the decor. Any thoughts on peaceful cichlids along with tigers? Babies will be encouraged from my cichlids if possible as well...

Sorry if this was a bad thing to ask on this thread... hated to start a new thread just for this one question. You guys are just SOOOO helpful!!

Thanks :bowing:

I'd say no--the operative word in your question was "peaceful." Tigers are too agressive for peacful cichlids, and you'd end up with a 65g tank where the only fish you ever see are tiger barbs. Not that the sight is unpleasent, but it sort of defeats the purpose of having them there if the cichlids hide all the time. You could try rosy barbs, odessa barbs, gold barbs, or another non-tiger sort of barb. Not all barbs are as nippy as the tigers. But if you go with the south american cichlids you mentioned earlier, you might want to go with tetras because they come from the same part of the world. I like to keep fish together that come from the same place, as they tend to share the same water perameters.
