I'm going to get some tiger barbs for my 20 gallon long, and I was wondering what a good tank mate would be. I want something that would be medium sized, like 2"-3", and something that the tiger barbs wouldn't nip at. Also, I don't know how many tiger barbs to get, I was think like 6 or 7, but would that be too much? And lastly, would corys mix well with tiger barbs? thanks for any help. :)

As far as the cories go, I have six smaller tiger barbs in my tank that have got along pretty well with the cories. They occasionally chase a cory but will give up after a few seconds, and they haven't nipped any of them. Don't know if it makes much of a difference but I added my tiger barbs as the last thing in my tank, and the cories are full grown.

Hope this helps

the thing about tiger barbs and cories is that they are both bottom dwellers.. but it seems like cories work with everything, so they would work...

If you want another schooling fish, i would suggest zebra danios as they spend most of their time at the very top of the tank

I have Rosy barbs in with my tigers and a Pl*co in my 29 gallon tank. It has been quite interesting to watch. It is recommended to have Tiger Barbs in groups of 6 or more as they are a schooling fish. 7 in your case should be good. Good luck with your tank
