Tiger Oscars

Hello people!

My sister has three tiger oscars that were the same size when she bought them - one of them is a very fussy eater and is now considerably smaller than the others. She's tried blood worms, freeze dried shrimp, flakes and daphnia but he's still a fussy little thing! Any suggestions? Oh, he also seems to prefer eating food from the bottom of the tank rather than the surface..... !

What size tank are they in?

Also, if the one is a bottom-feeder, Oscars are so ravenous that they will easily outcompete any other fish unless the tank is large in area. Try feeding in two different locales within the tank, but, if that doesn't work, the one will need a new tank.
 
What could also be the deal is your smaller one might be older and stunted from the LFS and has become accustomed to what they feed him over there. You should go back were you got him and ask what they feed them then feed him that and slowly transition him to other fish. HTH.
 
try sinking pellets for catfish etc but in your case oscars and after a while he/she will have got a big bigger and can eat with the others or try meal worms they sink to the bottom after a while and he could pick them up when he feels like it.

Thanks guys for your advice.

The Oscars are in a tank which is 4 foot long, 3 foot deep and 3 foot wide. It is split into two sections, so I guess the little oscar could be moved into the other section with the smaller fish which will prevent competiton for food with the bigger Oscars. My sister already asked what the shop where she bought him were feeding him, and has tried that with some success, but perhaps moving him will help.

As far as I know, they're still quite young fish (and are about 3 inches long), but I'll check up on that with my sis.....

i have a tiger oscar and a texas cichlid and a pleco in a 150 gal. i heard that the tex would get intolerant of other fish but not in my case. my fish get aong fine. i've never seen them fight.

Be careful: your small oscar can end up eating small fish like guppies, small tetras, small danios, etc... as he grow.
