I just acquired a Goldfish - Carassius auratus, and am using a 3.5 gallon container w/large gravel, a whisper filter, and 2 small plants (plastic). The fish seems real happy, he is 2" (body 1", tail 1"). Will the 3.5 gal be sufficient for this fish, at least for a little while? If so, you think he'd like some company in there, or is it too cramped already?

Hi Natty, the 3.5 gallon tank will do for now but you need to upgrade soon. Minimum requirements to keep a goldfish is 10 gallons per fish and its more if the fish is 3 inches or bigger.

Kinda figured I would need a bigger tank, but obviously adding another fish to the 3.5 is out of the question. I guess he'll have to wait for his new digs to get some company.

Many thanks for the link to the post as well as the comments.
