i have a 29 gallon tank and im thinking of putting 2 or three tinfoils , some neon tetras, and maybe a few tiger barbs. Do i have enought tank for the tinfoils?
I believe that you want to keep tinfoils in groups of three or more. I don't know how fast they grow, but they can get over a foot long. I wouldn't try it in a 29.
Tinfoils are one of the fastest growing fish I have ever seen. I have a 150G tank with 6 of them. They can out eat everyone in the tank. They also eat all the food, none of the others have a chance.
Just make sure what your getting. I don't know if I would get them again?
Red Tail Tinfoil Barbs are aggressive and should not be kept with smaller fish. They have been known to eat smaller fish. They also might nip at the fins of less active fish, such as the Angel Fish. They will school, if several are kept together in a large enough tank. Red Tail Tinfoil Barbs need big tanks, with a moderate amount of rocks and plants. Red Tail Tinfoil Barbs will eat most live plants.
Size: Up to 12 Inches Recommended Tank Size: 75+ Gallons
My dad has ONE tinfoil barb in a 29 gallon tank. IT is constantly getting injured and is rather unhappy. It takes them less than a year to reach their full length of 13 inches.
