I was reading on Fenner's site that tiny Blue Girdleds are hard to keep alive in captivity. This past week one of our suppliers at the store I work at had Juvenile Blue Girdleds that any person couldn't pass up. I ordered one expecting it to come in around 2-4 inches. Well she came in at only an inch. She is SO tiny. I was just wondering what can I do to increase her chances of survival? She is in a tank with about 100lbs of live rock, which she picks at all day long. Today I went out and bought some of Julian Sprungs Red and Green dried algae, figuring this might help. She kinda picks at Formula One and Formula Two. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sponge is going to be a very important dietary item, and it's a common deficiency that contributes to the early death of baby angels. You have enough rock in the 209g to hold it over for some time, but throw as diverse a diet at it as you can. As it gets bigger, it might appreciate the occasional sponge to nibble on...hold out at the store for a sponge that doesn't look like it will pull through (eg, oxygen exposure) and bring it home for the angel to eat off of for a few days before it disintegrates.

Thanks for the reply, we are constantly getting Red, Orange, and Black Sponges in from our suppliers that generally range from 5-10 bucks. It will be no problem snatching one every once and awhile. Should I add one now, to help her chances? Thanks Boogie, you have been SO helpful!
