When I got my peppermint shrimp, the guy dipped it out of the tank with what appeared to be live brine shrimp (very tiny, transparent fast swimming critters). These things have multiplied and are now everywhere under the rock in my tank. The only fish in there is an Ocellaris Clownfish. Various other inverts are in there (hermit crabs, porcelein crab, nassarius snails). I'm thinking about getting a Black Cap Basslet. Will one of those take care of the brine shrimp?

The tank is 25 gallon and has been running for 6 or 7 months. I'm transfering everything in the tank to a 55 gallon sometime in Februrary. The little guys aren't really bothering anything, but if they are a possible food source for a fish, I would like to use them as such.

I'd guess them to be either amphipods or mysis shrimp. Either way, they're a great thing to have. Count your blessings. A black cap would certainly chow on them (as will most fish), but don't go out of your way to get rid of them. Many people take extraordinary measures to keep their populations of these things high.

Count your blessings. These are likely amphipods and copepods, and you have no idea how much tank cleaning they are doing for you after dark. They are consummate detritivores and will chow down on fish waste, leftover food, and anything else organic that would otherwise pollute water quality. They reproduce like crazy, providing free live food for both fish and corals that catch them in the current.
