I want to add another powerhead (about 124 g/ph) to my 30g. On the tank now is a prizm skimmer in the miidle and powersweep on the right hand side (164g/ph). What I want to do is get the powerhead pointing at the surface so that I can get rid of the oily film on the top of the water. I tested it out with my other PH. And I noticed that there was a lot of shimmering from the MH shinning threw the ripples. Will this be a problem. Its a 30g tank, going to be mainly SPS dominated with some softies and LPS. There is no sump so the overflow can't get rid of the oily film.

Thanx b;)

If anything, some corals have anecdotally seemed to grow better as a result of a disrupted light source. I wouldn't stress it - better for the system to break up that oily film and skim off as much as possible. FYI, I *think* that Slip has DIY plans somewhere for a surface skim modification on a Prizm, but I might be delusional on that one...check with him.

BrianH: In your tank specs you are describing an eheim filter loaded with base rock how does this work, can it work with live rock as well? can this be rubble?, having already live rock/sand in the main tank how beneficial this could be?
