So these are my readings as of this morning:

Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0 - .25
Ammonia: 0
PH: 8.3
Temp: 77

I've lost two hermit crabs as of today. I noticed two little bodies out of their shell in the tank and took them out immediately. Could this be from the Nitrite? Or maybe not enough to eat? I have 15 hermit crabs and 26 snails in my 75 gallon tank. Oh, and an Emerald Crab as well (he/she is gorgeous!)

Attached my new Seaclone last night, still haven't seen any foam. The manual says it could take days for it to start pulling foam into the cup. I had just started to get my old one to collect, but with tweaking on a daily basis. If there was stuff to pull out, it would do so even if its new right?

thanks all!

did you wash the new skimmer before connecting it to the tank? could be why its not pulling anything out...

Your tank params are starting to get back to normal again now mate, which i am really chuffed for you...it is a possibility that they starved, but, they might also of being trying to find another home....do you have spare shells in the tank for them to move in to?

I did not wash the skimmer before setting it up, would it be worthwhile to wash it now that it has been running for a day?

I do have spare shells for the hermit crabs to move tnto should they need too. Unfortunately I did not check to see if they had molted or if it was in fact dead crabs. If if happens again I'll be sure to check it out.

I was thinking of adding more live rock since i only have approx. 40lbs. per 75 gallon tank, however, I thought it might be best to wait until readings are perfect before tinkering with it more.

Also, would you recommend I wait to add fish until all readings are 0? There is a Scorpionfish (can't remember what kind) at my LFS that I have fallen in love with. They are compatible with eels and require the same temp, salinity, etc. as my eel.

Thanks for your help!

yes, i would take it out, strip it down and give it a good wash...

Only add your live rock in small ammounts once your water readings have stabilised, else your going to end up with another minicycle agian....

I would wait for a while now untill the tank has settled properly, its been through a lot recently....

might i add that the seaclone isnt a good skimmer so dont expect much from it, if you still have waranty take advantage of it and say it doesnt work and return it. Then chose a better one.

Ecsactly, I am guess your tank is FOWLR ? Other then the skimmer your on the right track imo

What is FOWLR?

As for the skimmer, I've mentioned in many posts that I only have 3 1/2 inches behind my tank (to the wall) so I'm very limited as to what I can use for a skiimmer. I don't have the $ or knowledge at this point for a sump.

FOWLR is Fish only with live rock, coralife skimmers work a bit better and costs around the same
