Too Many Air Bubbles

I have lots of tiny bubbles in my tank....I have 2 powerheads? I think that is what you call them...but when you look into my tank, it kinda looks cloudy but it is really just thousands of air bubbles. How do I get rid of them? Do they cause any harm to my fish? Can you over oxygenate water?

Oxygenation does not really occur from bubbles pumped into the water. It occurs at the surface of the water, especially when the surface is in motion.

You can't over-oxygenate the water unless you are injecting CO2 for plants and then surface agitation causes loss of your precious CO2

So if i want to eliminate some of the bubbles i could point the outflow of one of the powerheads away from the surface of the water?

Some powerheads come with a hose you stick out of the water to suck up on air and help for the cration of those bubbles. If that's the case, just remove the hose. Another thing you could try is to reduce the power heads flow or even submerge the powerheads a little bit.

This should help to eliminate those bubbles, which I personally hate.

I havent noticed any hose, but I will try to bring up the level of the water and see if it helps...thanks!

If you point the powerheads upward to cause surface disturbance it should clear up. I've had that problem and this solution happened to work rather well. The only time the bubbles re-appear in my tanks are when I feed freeze dried bloodworms. For some reason it causes a temporary film on my water that prevents the bubbles from breaking causing microbubble buildup in the tank.

I have the same problem. Microbubbles fill the tank. I know its because of the HOB. I turned off the powerhead and still have the problem. The water level is lowered so the birchirs can swim to the top if they want a breath of air. I'll have to modify my HOB to prevent the waterfall causing the microbubbles.

It is possible that too much nitrogen can be absorbed by the fish resulting in popeye, but its not common, and I wouldn't worry about it unless you start to see signs of a fishies eyes starting to buldge out.
