I have set my 29 gal up again and hooked....
my first time i had no air pump at all and believe it hurt me..????
this time i bought on and have a ship split in half w/ oxygen, a man in under water suit and a bubble bar running off the pump. however my tank is not cloudy but kindve looks that way with all the oxygen in the tank!!!!
is there a such thing as too much or do u think my tank is actually cloudy and i think its air? help please
set it up and filled up sat but had to buy new filter (whisper 30-60 advanced)
on sunday night and added fish tuesday..
have not done water change yet but fish look and act very healthy...
can u get buy w/ just once a month?
have a friend who has had fish for yrs and he says he just adds water mostly when it gets low..
started w/ 3 blue guarmis, lady said should wait about a month to buy more..
any suggestions on what fish to add<< wife likes mollys and i would like to try to breed one day..read mollies were easy too?

Aeration devices don;t do much for oxygenating water other than disturbing the surface where gas exchange takes place. Your power filter should do that enough without having to resort to ornaments to do so. You should check out the Sticky thread near the top of this forum titled Cycle. it will help you understand what that process is. Right now you should be doing water changes every day because there is not enough of a biological filter in your tank to handle ammonia building up in the tank. I really like 50% water changes if you are doing a fishy cycle. You need to purchase a master test kit that has at least Ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte and pH tests in it and start testing your water daily. Eventually what you should see is ammonia spiking then going down as nitrites come up, then nitrites going down while nitrates come up. If your tank can go 48 hours in a row with no visible ammonia and nitrites and only nitrates of around 5-10, you are cycled for the 3 gouramis. Any fish you add after that should be added only 1 or 2 at a time. Mollies are great fish. I love them. They breed like rabbits and you should have no problems at all. So, please check out the Cycle thread so you can get an idea of what is going on and then pick up test kits ASAP.

:OT: Havlock how in the world do you type so fast? (Or is it just me  )
I dunno. Mostly I ignore my mistakes. :) Nagh, I only type with about five fingers... never took a typing course. I still manage about 50 words a minute or so... okay, 42 with errors.

Well, ammonia would be listed as Ammonia, NH3 and/or NH4. It's one of the most important tests you can have and I would strongly urge you to get one to monitor the levels.

Aeration can never oxygenate a tank beyond air equilibrium. Live plants when actively growing without significant surface disruption in the tank can easily saturate and/or superstaurate the tank with oxygen - we see it and call it "pearling". There is no downside to plant-based O2 supersaturation.
