Petsmart was probably wrong, as they are in many cases. Use this site: http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Contents.htm to identify the rainbows you have (scroll down to "rainbowfishes"; if you give me a description of your rainbows, I can probably tell you wich section to look in).
