I noticed this morning that my poor little oto has some sort of fluffy growth developing on the gills on the left side of his head. It looks just like a little puff of cotton-- this, I've been told, is most likely some sort of fungal infection. Other than the fluffy stuff, he appears to be acting normally, so I think he's still healthy enough to be successfully cured. None of the other fish in the tank are showing any symptoms.

From what I've read, it seems that most people suggest using Maracyn, Jungle Fungus Eliminator, or Pimafix. What is the best way to treat his condition? Bear in mind that I don't have a hospital/quarantine tank, so I need to treat him while he's still living with his other friends, those being a bunch of platies and some panda cories. I'm not too concerned about the platies, since they're pretty well bomb-proof, but I don't want to add anything to the tank that will end up harming my beloved cories. Which is the safest and most effective route?

Also, I'm inclined to begin doing daily water changes to make sure the tank is as pristene as possible, but I don't know if that would interfere with any medications I may use. Would it be okay to say, do a water change, then add the daily dosage of meds, leave it for about 24 hours and repeat? Or would I be better off doing one water change now, adding the treatment, and leaving it for a week while the meds do their stuff?

Thanks for any advice you may have!
