1st I'm not sure it's ich. I know what ich looks like, these white spots are flat not cyst like. They are on my turquoise rainbow fish. I had a rise in temperature to 81 degrees, and then the weather cooled off and the A/C worked and cooled the tank to 76 degrees.

36 bow front, very heavily planted.
inhabitants:
4 rainbow fish
7 cories,
4 otos
6 hatchett fish
RCS
amanos
pond snails, MTS, ramshorns

temp 78.5
am 0
ites 0
ates 10
pH 7.0
I dose the seachem flourish line, weekly w/c 10%

I'm not worried about losing snails. I'm concerned about my shrimp. If it turns out to be ich is the salt and temperature increase safe for them? Any other options?

shrimp can tolerate heat and salt for the duration of ich treatment. it would be my preference over a chemical. Also, you could always move the shrimp to a qt if you have on eavailable to treat the tank.

lol I have a tank available but I would never be able to catch them all in that planted tank. =)

If it is ich I'll do salt and temp increase, thanks.

thanks, it isn't ich. the spots are gone, there has been no flashing, and none of the other fish were affected. They look fine tonight. and I've given them a good looking over.

well I found a spot of something on one of my cories. This looks too big for ich, but I've started the salt/heat process. I continue this for 10 days? right?

You should continue the treatment for ten days after the last spot is gone.

This is because ich is only vulnerable for treatment in it's free swimming stage.

I caught the cory with the spot and tried to remove it with a q-tip, it wouldn't come off. I don't think this is ich there is no flashing, none of the other fish are affected. If this is ich when should I see the outbreak? the temp is 85.4 and the salt concentration is 2 tsp per gallon. Do I treat it as if it is ich until I know otherwise? It's only been 24 hours. thanks for your help
