Treating Ich with Aquari-Sol?

Last Friday I began to notice some Ich on my 5 clown loaches (all are 3-4"). I changed about 25% of the water, slowly raised the temp to 85F, and began treating with Aquari-Sol at half doses. I know that raising the temperature will speed up the life cycle of the parasite but the medication does not appear to be having any effect at all. The infestation appears to be worse. Yesterday I began administering half doses of the medicine at 12 hour intervals.

I've had these loaches for months now and I believe the Ich was brought in by the recent addition of a gourami (I did not not quarantine). I checked the quality of the water and all the variables seem to be in the appropriate range (neutral pH, nearly zero levels of nitrite and ammonia, etc).

My question is: Is Aquari-Sol effective against Ich in clown loaches? Is there anything else I can/should do? Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest reading the article on ich in the article forum. There is good information in it.

Did you remove the carbon from your filter?? Carbon can nullify meds.

Tried Aquarisol on an ich outbreak once, not much luck with it. I use
it as a net dip now.

TKOS: Thanks for the link to the article.

theuselessfew: Yes, I removed the carbon from the filter on Friday when I began medicating. Sorry to hear about your experiences with Aquari-Sol. Have you found anything that does work for you?
