Treats for my fish?

Someone said the shelled peas.

I give these to my fish every single day and the guppies LOVE it. My angel isnt so interested but will pick a little, but for the guppies its like a freeding fenzy.

Make sure you remove the left overs (if there is any) the next morning because the grow fury mould on them very quickly.

Other than that, alot of variety. I dont like the idea of giving my fish just flakes. I know I wouldnt want to live on just the one food all my life. So they have flakes, community feast (frozen shrimp, heart etc in one), frozen bloodworms, peas and zuchinni for the catfish.

Lightly blanched cucumber (think you lot call it zuchini?) or lettuce normally go down well with the pleco's.....

Blanching is a cooking term that describes a process of food preparation wherein the food substance, usually a vegetable or fruit, is plunged into boiling water, removed after a brief, timed interval and finally plunged into iced water or placed under cold running water (shocked) to halt the cooking process.
Uses of blanching

• Peeling Blanching loosens the skin on some fruits or nuts, such as onions, tomatoes, plums, peaches, or almonds.

• Flavor Blanching enhances the flavor of some vegetables, such as broccoli, by releasing bitter acids stored in the cellular structure of the food.

• Appearance Blanching enhances the color of some (particularly green) vegetables by releasing gases trapped in the cellular material that obscure the greenness of the chorophyll. Since blanching is done - and halted - quickly, the heat does not have time to break down chlorophyll as well.

• Shelf life Blanching neutralises bacteria and enzymes present in foods, thus delaying spoilage. This is often done as a preparatory step for freezing vegetables.

hi, just wondering I have 3 tiger barbs, 3 green tiger barbs, 2 black phantom tetras and an otocinclus can anyone suggest anything that i can put in that will keep all my aquatic friends happy and healthy I already give them some krill with there standard tropical fish flake food and I cant help but feel bad for them I mean thats really all I ever feed them so I am looking for something to give them but im not sure if some things that one will love are poisonous to another and I have not had much luck with the matter...can anyone help me

My barbs love blanched peas. Make sure you take the skin off. They will pick up a whole one and run.

I only heat the water up a little in the microwave to get them soft

I never had a lot of variety I could give mine when I had a community tank when I was a kid, but I tried!! I'd boil lettuce leaves for my pleco, I'd buy frozen bloodworm cubes for my danios, tetras, platies, and guppies. I also bought gelled foods with shrimp and water fleas in them. Other than that, I raised batches of baby brine shrimp to feed (which is tricky because of the stupid egg pods that always end up floating all over the tank or getting swallowed by your poor fish)

I never even knew you could feed frozen peas to fish... but back then, I didn't like peas, so I figured the feeling would be mutual.
